Log legs and drawer pull are skip peeled by hand for a unique, one of a kind appearance. This item is professionally finished with premium grade clear lacquer. Let me start by saying I own several items from Montana Woodworks and have always been satisfied with the quality of their products.I do have some complaints with this purchase however - my unfinished unit arrived in "okay" condition, the tabletop was well made and just needed some sanding and sealer. There was some damage around the edges from shipping which I was able to re-shape and repair.The legs arrived in a separate box - two legs were completely split in half. The box was is rough shape. Both legs had large knots and cracks which aided in the separation. One leg was warped bad enough to make the desk uneven which required some adjusting(no problem). All four legs had deeper than usual gouges from the peeling process which required some additional shaping and smoothing(they were noticeable).(no problem) I was able to repair the split legs, but it added a day(and additional money) to finishing the desk.I am happy with it though, and do plan on purchasing more items from Montana Woodworks as I furnish my home. I recommend the shipping/packaging dept. add some peanuts or cushioning material in the boxes.I love this desk!!! It's so easy to put together....Absolutely beautiful and very sturdy.
