Sturdy on flat surface Holds up to 40 lbs. per shelf
This is a pressboard desk that requires no tools. It is shaky and unstable and there is no way to make it any more sturdy. The work surface is very small and what appears to be drawers is actually very flimsy doors that bend when you open and close them. I wish I saw this desk in a store before buying online. I wouldn't have purchased it. It took me about 30 minutes to put together but I was watching a movie at the same time. The instructions are not clear as to what side is what so I managed to get one panel on wrong and it crumbled when I tried to fix it. Fortunately the damage is on the interior side and you can't see it.I read many reviews on this before purchasing it and I should have taken my chances elsewhere. Unless you are using it for a plant stand it really isn't good for much.If this desk was sturdy I would be fine with it but it just isn't.Cheap. Like you bought it from Ikea. However, I give it 4 stars because you get what you pay for and that's exactly what I got.The plastic parts holding the desk together did not hold up well. The desk ended up falling apart after 6-months.Relatively easy to assemble. Fairly sturdy, bit on the small side but was perfect for my bedroom.Great desk, its very sturdy and has room for all my computer equipment plus I love the 2 file drawers.Junk, junk, junk....did I mention junk?..terribly made..Sturdy and attractive item, not fragile or 'cheesy' looking despite the low price. Nice, very pale white-greyish wood-grain. Desk rests directly on the floor, no legs or casters. I assembled this by myself in a few hours and I am an old lady, not a carpenter.Assembly hints: Description says no tools needed but it went much easier after I started tapping in dowels with a hammer to make the pieces fit flush. Take your time and do things strictly in order. Pay really, really careful attention to the instructional pictures every step of the way -- because the instructions, while technically correct, are sparse and confusing. It matters how/where you line up the unfinished edges, which direction the door magnets face, and where you place the tiny hole in the middle 'cabinet' section.
